Today's faculty includes more than 500 students in both full-time and combined studies. Tuition is delivered by approximately 40 academic staff members and several functional employees of the faculty. The faculty is located in several places in the town, counting the Dean's Office building, the workshop-laboratory complex, and the Science and Technology Park facilities. Tuition also takes place in other locations at the university. Despite the current spatial capacity, which is not optimal, the faculty is dynamically developing not only in the area of pedagogy but also in research and other activities. Permanent attention is paid to the upgrading of tuition, with an emphasis on practical skills and knowledge. As evidence of this development, a majority of students successfully prove their theses statements in practical settings.
Despite the high number of students and growing number of academic staff, the faculty has a certain kind of family atmosphere. Most of pedagogical staff is engaged in research and share their findings during lectures or conferences held in the Czech Republic and abroad as well as publish in numerous specialized journals. Accreditation of the doctoral degree program has become a major achievement. The faculty will soon release the first graduates. The faculty is open to the outside world, it cooperates with most Czech and several foreign technical universities and many other workplaces.
Theoretical lectures take place in classrooms equipped with quality information technology resources. Practical courses happen in workshops, laboratories or in the Science and Technology Park facilities as a part of students' workshop training.
Laboratories, which are very well equipped, are used by students to develop their diploma theses and for doctoral students to conduct their experiments.
The majority of diploma theses are carried out for the benefit of industrial production which is closely related to the faculty. Enterprises concerned are: Ferox Děčín, TOS Varnsdorf, Dalkia Ústí nad Labem, Škoda Auto in Mladá Boleslav and many others.
Included among faculty priorities are as follows: quality growth in laboratory training, development of scientific and research activities together with more practical application and finding solutions to space insufficiency.
